Buonsenso al governo

Come funziona governare secondo buon senso? Ecco un esempio.

Notizia: in Svizzera a partire dal 6 Luglio ci sara' l'obbligo di mascherine su tutti i mezzi pubblici.

Primo commento: ???? E prima?

The melting pot

The melting pot is the pot where materials, usually metals, are heated to their melting temperature until they liquefy and blend together to form an alloy that have better properties of each original metal. Now, in order to obtain this, the right materials need to be chosen, usually metals, and metals with similar properties. Not every mix work, no matter how long you heat it. If you don't pick the right materials, they won't blend at all or originate a very poor alloy. Also the amount of each material is important. It's just not possible to mix any quantity of the right materials and obtain a good alloy. This is applicable also to societies. You cannot just mix any culture in any quantity and hope they will mix well generating a better society. Quality and quantity do matter. Our politicians that want to throw us all in the melting pot should study some chemistry before taking their decisions.

Finalmente liberi?

Defending civilization

Many  many words have been written regarding the Charlie Hebdo massacre. I was very impressed from the massive presence at the demonstration held in Paris, more than by the number of people, by the massive presence of high representatives of States that have everyday experience with terrorism, including Israel an Palestine. Many words have been written on the newsapapers, and many words have been said, but few were in line with what I feel about this event. These words came from pope Francis. He rightly condemned the attack, but also expressed the need for eveybody to have respect for other people's more inner feelings and believes, of which religions are the highest expression. I would add more to this. Western colture, and Europe on particular, has once again failed in its communication towards the muslim world. By unconditionally and strongly defend people that have for years insulted people's feelings in the name of a freedom of expression while receding on many other symbols and traditions of our millenary culture, we pass the message that Westerns are uncultured, valueless and corrupted people, whose only value is the right to insult other people's believes. Westerns should start to stand up to defend theirs own values, the ones they have been trying to hide and forget for decades now, it's the only way to avoid the annihilation of the Western culture.

Wrong direction

The economic direction that Italy has taken as well as the rest of the European Union, is not bringing the expected results. The debt of Italy is still growing, even with the consistent cuts to the pubblic spending. This situation is not a surprise or at lest should not be. The first actions taken by the Monti government, the supposed savior of Italy, was increase taxes in any area of the economy. After an initial increase of revenue, the disastrous effect of this measure on the overall Italian economy didn't wait long ti show. After 3 years, the tax revenues are falling, due mainly to the economy contraction caused by the previous years choices. Unfortunately this is not the end and if the economy policies at European level, I see more hard times coming for Italy.

Nobel prize lecturing

Shirin Ebadi, an Iranian nobel prize, has recently expessed a non positive opinion on Italian society and in particular on the women condition. Now, Italy is a free Country and everybody is allowed to express their oponion. However I could not avoid to think about that quote from the Bible that talks about a straw and a beam.
